Special Entry~~~

Why it so special? :) Well, it's about our group project. As you all know, at presentation 40% progress of the website, we are about 80% to completely finish our website. At that time, we are very struggle to finish it 100% but because of time constraints, we abide only by completing 75%. 

Our timeline

After decided the topic of the website:
  • Faizah working on chemistry notes, make it simple but clearly to understand.
  • Ayuni (mommy) working on designing the template of website.
  • Azaref and Rajesh working on theory and strategy to be include in the website.
Website development:
  • Faizah working on notes, tutorial and quiz.
  • Ayuni (mommy) working on database, server, login and discussion forum.
  • Azaref working on video and flash.
  • Rajesh working on download flash and pdf notes.

How we meet each other?
  • Azaref build a group in Facebook. So, we all do an online discussion in Facebook.
  • Meet up at Food Court Jaya Jusco, Taman Universiti or UTM Library.
Azaref as our secretary and he responsible to take notes in every meeting we held.
 
That's how we working each other...

Mommy very grateful to having them as mommy group members. The important thing, we always helping each other.

Week 13: Publishing Your Website

This week we learned about how to publish your website in the internet. Before start the class, Dr Affandy remind us about individual evaluation and discussion on e-learning. Due date to present 100% website is on January. Mommy forgot the date but mommy pretty sure, its early in January. Mommy will update the date A.S.A.P after mommy get the date. Next week (21th December 2011), Dr Affandy will giving us an activity and need us to discuss in e-learning by 9.00pm. So, everyone MUST online at 9.00pm and make the discussion about 30minutes. 

Okey, lets start the class! hehehe...No laaa, mommy just wrote down what mommy learned in the class for this week. As a freelance website developer for 4 years, not all we know even though we had 4years experiences on that. Every single day, we need to improve our knowledge by reading or gaining experience on that. So, from mommy's experiences, before we want to publish our website, we need to explore which company can give a good price to buy the web hosting and domain name. 

What is web hosting?
is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own or lease for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center.

And what is domain name?
is an identification string that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control in the Internet. Domain names are formed by the rules and procedures of the Domain Name System (DNS). Domain names are used in various networking contexts and application-specific naming and addressing purposes. In general, a domain name represents an Internet Protocol (IP) resource, such as a personal computer used to access the Internet, a server computer hosting a web site, or the web site itself or any other service communicated via the Internet.

and web hosting, mommy forgot. hahaha....Actually, for the first time registered web hosting, mommy need a person to guides mommy. Actually, mommy not expect to having a web hosting at the first place but as a freelance website developer, mommy need to have it. 

With having a web hosting, you can upload your website or system which need a database to store it. You also can transfer the file by using FTP. Besides, with having your own domain name, you can put your name or your company to publish your website...

For more information, you can search at google. :) To get new knowledge, you need to find it by yourself, not only retrieve from others. 
Mommy will continue the special task that Dr Affandy asked us to do in another entry....:)

Week 12: Presentation Time~~~

Urmm, as usual, mommy a bit late to update this blog. Supposedly, mommy writing for entry Week 13. huhuhu! Never mind...Lets check it out what happen during presentation time. 

As u all know, we had a Presentation for 40% progress of the website. Dr Affandy gave an instruction on how to evaluate other group during the presentation. It separate into 3 parts which are Information Design, Interaction Design and Visual Design. And each part has many questions around 5-6 questions. During the presentation, every one of us need to write down our point of view follow the questions that had given.

About our website?

2 major things that need an improvement in our website:
  • Our website lack of constructivism theory on the web
  • MUST put some animation or else to make it more interesting. Not just only text because the student will get bored.
 Overall, we got positive comments from others especially Dr. Affandy...We are so so so happy! Thank you Dr Affandy! 

After finish the class, we discussed how to improve our website. Who are the responsible to do this and this. hehehe...So, excited huh? After this, we focus on individual evaluation a.k.a individual assignment~~~ So, scary. hehehe...

Week 11: Group Project Discussion

Hai everyone! Today mommy want to story mory about our last discussion on 26th Nov 2011 at Jaya Jusco , Taman Universiti, near to UTM recently. Mommy bring aqil too because mommy's mom going to Melaka to attend wedding. So, we continued our last discussion which is in facebook. We separate the task, who will going to do the report, web, flash, and presentation which is on this incoming Wednesday. We already finish our web, almost 85% overall! So, below are the picture of us...Opps! mommy forgot to tell that Rajesh cannot joined us because his grandmother had past away...Stay strong Rajesh! But don't forget to do your part, ok?

Week 10: Visual Design

Today is mommy first class after very long holiday mommy had. hahahaha! Okey, before start the class, Dr Affandy reminded us about weekly reflection in blog, our project subject and individual assignment that we need to do. This week is WEEK 10. We are supposedly present 40% our project on WEEK 11. Meaning that, next week we must complete our project at least 40% in progress...Oh my gucci! Mommmy do not realized at all, we are in WEEK 10. How fast the time is moving. Fuhhh...Okeyh Mommy, after class, going home and set your mind to finish all the task quickly. Not only set your mind but DO IT! huhuh...

Today we learned about Visual Design. What the difference between Interaction, Information and Visual Design? It seems similar...Well, the Interaction Design is what user need and feel about it. Visual Design is like sketches, it visualize the design from information gathered and then transform it into real visual by using software. Information Design is like what information that they want to delivered to the customer.

Week 9: Mid-Year Semester Break

We having discussion at Food Court, Jaya Jusco. We decided to separate the task and of course, mommy will be the person who sketch the webpage. For mommy's group members, here it goes---->

We only choose Exercise, Simulation and Education Games and we add Notes to replace Tutorial.

Membaca: ada banyak cerita pilihan yang menarik berkisahkan teladan dan ade dwi bahasa. Di dalamnya ade suara yang akan mengajar adik2 manja membaca seiring dengan tulisan yang diwarnakan apabila perkataan itu disebut.

Menyanyi: banyak pilihan lagu yang menarik berkonsepkan pelajaran, mengajak adik2 manja menyanyi bersama. Minda paling mudah mengingat adalah melalui lagu. Oleh itu, adik2 manja mudah untuk menghafal dan mengingati apa yang dipelajari.

Bermain Muzik:  terdapat piano, seksafon, gitar, drum, casenet untuk dimainkan oleh adik2 manja mengikut nod2 lagu. Ini adalah untuk meningkatkan daya kreativiti adik2 manja dalam mencipta muzik baru dan memperkuatkan daya ingatan. Ini yang di amalkan oleh anak Yahudi...hehehe

Fonik: pembelajaran melalui fonik membantu adik2 manja menyebut dengan betul.

Flow: Katakanla adik2 manja pilih link abjad. Jadi ade nota dan latihan untuk mengenal abjad, menulis abjad berserta bunyi. Terdapat simulasi yg mengajar mereka mengenal n menulis abjad dengan betul. Kemudian, mereka akan diuji semula apa yg diajar melalui games.

Week 8: Information Design

Waaaa~~~ When everyone in the class while listening to Dr Affandy's lecture, mommy and family in the sky. Saw the clouds moving and chit chat with mommy's daughter a long the way... Guess, where we are now? Hahaha...

When we safely arrived at Kelantan, mommy call faizah and azaref, ask them what they learned today. They said, we learned about information design. We need to sketch a kindergarten webpage (Wow! mommy love that. Thank you Dr Affandy!)  We must choose one theory that suitable for kindergaten webpage. Then, explain the learning strategy that we put in our sketches. Okey, maybe it sounds difficult BUT it might be easy after we sit down together and having a discussion. So, we planned to meet up after semester break.

Week 6: Interaction Design

Supposedly mommy going to class BUT mommy in the hospital. Why? Because mommy's son, Aqil was warded due to lung infection. Aqil cough about 2 weeks until he hard to breath at the midnight. Mommy so worried and quickly bring him to the hospital. So, mommy with aqil in the hospital. Never mind! As long aqil get well soon~~~



After we are discharged, mommy contact faizah and azaref, ask them what task that mommy should do. They told mommy, we need to sketch a webpage but MUST include interaction design elements. We need to conduct an interview with client, gather information and requirement in what they need in their webpage. So, mommy's partner is hanim because hanim and mommy are not attended the class. huhuhu...

So, mommy ask them hanim's phone number and facebook. Oh, mommy forgot! Next week, class cancel because Deepavali Celebration. Mommy had a lot of time to do this task. lalalala~~~ For all indian out there, Happy Deepavali!

Week 5: Web Design Fundamentals

Mommy so excited today because mommy very satisfied with last week assignment. Are you remember what kind of assignment we need to do??? Of course! Slide presentation by using prezi. After last discussion on facebook (online group discussion), we are ready to present. First presenter maybe??? Wow! Too excited huh?

Ok, the class begin with some theory. Why we must know the theory behind the design? It is important okeeeyyy...It is to make sure you design correctly by following the client needs. Not like you design follow your feeling. 

Dr Affandy ask us, What is the purpose of web design?
  • To inform or persuade users
  • This is accomplished by:
          a) delivering content
          b) presenting the content in a way that benefits the user.

Then, Dr Affandy show us some templates and asked us to write down what we like and do not like according to the templates he had shown. We discuss together. What mommy can conclude that, before we create the template, we need an information from client. After that, we must interview them. Firstly we need to know, who the target audience, what kind of business they run and the layout they need. Then we can start the sketches.

The notes below:
Before the presentation started, Dr Affandy asked us to discuss among group members, what are the most important to observe when designing a website? Dr Affandy gave us 10 minutes to discuss and one person will present. Our group members says,
a) layout,
b) concept/target user,
c) design principles, and
d) title/header are the most important things to observe.

The exactly answer is.....USER REQUIREMENT. Oh gosh! How can mommy forgot about user requirement??? huhuhu...

Week 4: 2 Topics Today! Lalalala~~~

Hai everyone! In week 4, we have learned TWO topics which are Web Development Process and Project Management In Web Design and Production. Before start the class, Dr Affandy asked us to create a group of 3. Only 1 group will have 4 members. So, mommy's group members are:
As usual, my best ever friend, Faizah 
Azaref and
Rajesh
"Happy working together babes!"

Okey, what we need to do is, we must choose one subject. Then, specifically into sub-topic. Make sure the subject that we choose is secondary school level. After that, we need to sit down together, make a discussion about:
a) Learning problems (need reference which from journals)
b) Solutions to learning problems
c) Learning objectives
d) Content of the website
e) Target group/audience
Lastly, create a slide presentation and put all this things into it. Oppsss! It must done by using P.R.E.Z.I okeeeyyy...:)

Week 3: Exploring Prezi

Last week, Dr Affandy asked us to explore more about prezi. In this stage, mommy can create an interactive slide for presentation. What mommy can say is, how advanced the technology we had, if we are not born as a creative person or try to be creative, the results is same. Why? Because this prezi also need creativity to create an interactive slide. You need to plan, how its moving from where to where, where its begin and end, what happen after this path, and etc. 

Yes! Mommy agreed that prezi an awesome software rather than other software for presentation. Mommy so amazed when first time looked at the example of prezi. Mommy get too excited when using it for the first time until promoted this prezi to mommy's younger brother. 


This is some guidelines that mommy can share with all of you. This is what mommy applied before mommy create a slide using prezi:
1. Plan the path. Rough sketch.
2. Google the pictures, videos that you wish to put inside your prezi.
3. Prepare the text.
4. Transform from sketch to prezi.

Done!

If you still blurrrr, try search the prezi example or tutorial in youtube. You might get some ideas to do your prezi. So, good luck!

Week 2: Discussion

Before start the class, Dr. Affandy told us that next week the class will be canceled. It doesn't mean we are on holiday okeyyy...Dr. Affandy never leave us with empty task. Seriously! 
The task that Dr. Affandy given: 
  1. We MUST give our blog link through his email (fandymcl@gmail.com)--> Done!
  2. Explore and try the new technology software for presentation, Prezi (http://prezi.com/) --> Need more study

Then, mommy ask a question to Dr. Affandy,
Mommy: Which language we need to use to writing our blog, Malay or English?
Dr. Affandy: It depends on you...Which one you prefer to use...But don't mixed up both languages! 

Frankly speaking, mommy want to write this blog in Malay but mommy need to enhanced mommy English. Mommy English in a middle level (not very poor and not very good), kot...Hahaha. What ever laaa~~~ BUT that's the reason why mommy wrote in English. For all English teacher, mommy really sorry if mommy writing will make you laugh out loud okeyyy...Hehehe...

Ok, back to the story...Dr. Affandy start with his first slide presentation. As usual (like previous class - Technology Media & Design), his end up with discussion on certain topic/slide. See below...

  • Web design using web authoring software VS CMS VS Blog?
    • CMS - A content management system (CMS) is a system providing a collection of procedures used to manage work flow in a collaborative environment. Ex: Drupal, Joomlaa, Mambo, Xoops and etc
    • Blog - A blog (a blend of the term web log) is a type of website or part of a website. Blogs are usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. Blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. Ex: blogspot, wordpress
    • Web authoring software like Dreamweaver...

Mommy 1st class!

Hai everybody! New semester already started...Mommy went to MPT1393 class on 14th September 2011. It was a great class! Mommy met some old friends from mommy's previous class. And mommy was very happy because this class more practical than theory. We are asked to do a group project and upload it into UTM server. Mommy will story mory you all one-by-one, ok?

First of all, our lecturer is Dr. Noraffandy Yahya asked us to develop a web based system which are:
a) based on research
b) study the journal that had released
c) journal about computer & education
d) study about learning strategies
e) identifying the concept
f) apply instructional design and design principles

This is what mommy got from what Dr. Affandy were told us. And the below is what mommy got from Dr. Affandy's slide:

The website should contain the following aspects:
  • Application of active learning strategies. (3-5 journals)
  • Interactive application involving storage of user input data into database/file.
  • Integrating all elements of multimedia
  • Dynamic, educational and commercial quality
Journals: Computer & Education, Interacting With Computers, Computer Assisted Learning, Australian Journal of Educational Technology, Educational Technology & Society, British Journal of Educational Technology.

Mommy already search the related journal and print BUT mommy didn't read it yet.hehehe...

Ok, continue....The marking will be based on four main factors:
  • Technique in presenting the learning content
  • Interactive elements
  • Creativity and originality
  • Technical Aspect
REMINDER! Any project that are found to be the act of plagiarism, the group will automatically be given ZERO mark. The project developed for this course is NOT TAKEN from any previous/current undergraduate/postgraduate or thesis.

We also got individual assignment...haaa, see! First class we got first assignment. 

Assignment 1 (INDIVIDUAL)
Assignment refers to the development of a website evaluation from that contains some of the following construct.
  1. suitability of learning strategy
  2. suitability of interface design
  3. suitability of interaction design
  4. motivational development
  5. interest development
  6. website features/strength
  7. weakness of website
